Enjoy scuba diving near Kaup beach

The district administration and the Department of Tourism launched scuba diving facility on the Kaup beach, in Udupi district on Sunday.

The scuba diving will provide an opportunity for visitors to get a view of the underwater wonderland. A small rocky island, which is about 20 minutes by boat (8-km) from the Kaup beach, will be where visitors can avail this opportunity.

Following the recommendation of the Boat Federation, the district administration had decided to introduce scuba diving. Divers will be able to look at the marine life and soft corals. West Coast Adventures has taken the contract for carrying out scuba diving at Kaup for three years. They are also engaged in scuba diving at Goa, Mumbai and Nethrani islands.

Experts help the visitors in scuba diving and life saving jackets are also available. The fee has been fixed at Rs 3500 per person. The facility would be available throughout the week. For advance booking, one can contact: 7057066669, said Pawan Shourie of West Coast Adventures.

Speaking after inaugurating scuba diving, MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake said that several projects have been initiated to develop Kaup beach. To attract international tourists, an international airport should come up at Padubidri, he said and added that Kaup utsav will be organised at Kaup beach in the month of January.
