The Vidhana Soudha Police filed an FIR against  23  assistant professors for allegedly submitting fake mark cards to select First Grade Colleges in the state.

Police issued summons to the teachers to appear before the investigating officer.

On November 10, the Joint Director of the Department of Collegiate Education-Bengaluru Regional office  RK Ramesh Babu registered a complaint to initiate action against the teachers. Police booked them under IPC 429 (cheating) 465 creating fake documents and 488 forging the official's signature.

The candidates were among the 2,034 selected for the vacant assistant professors positions in government first grade colleges on February 4 by the department of collegiate  education.

A committee had been formed under the commissioner of collegiate education comprising Registrars of Bangalore, Mysore and Tumkur Universities -besides executive directors and other officials- to verify the documents submitted by the candidates.

While verifying their validity certificates, mark cards, reservation and other documents, officials found 23 candidates have given fake mark cards of Ph.D and MPhil programmes. A complaint has been lodged against them for cheating the government to get the posts.
