Last Updated 13 November 2017, 14:41 IST

A 'welcome song' promo for the 83rd Akhila Bharatha Kannada Sahitya Sammelana, the literary meet scheduled to be held in the city from November 24 to 26, will be released in a couple of days. The Tourism department is producing the promo and will upload and circulate it.

"Efforts are on to publicise the literary meet among the people, especially Kannadigas across the globe, through social media platforms. The welcome song, a 4.5-minute video clipping, would be uploaded on Youtube, Facebook wall and Instagram. The clipping will also be circulated via WhatsApp in groups," said Dr Y D Rajanna, president of the district unit of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat (KSP).

Dr Rajanna himself has penned the welcome song, while the music and direction of the video are by Nagesh Kandegala. "As the literary meet is being held after a gap of 27 years in the city, the seat of the erstwhile Maharajas, a tribute is paid to Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar. Nalvadi is the founder of the KSP. Tributes have also been paid to poets, including Kuvempu," he said.

The video has been shot at Mysuru Palace, KR Circle, University of Mysore, Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies, Chamundi Hill, KRS dam and other attractions of the city and its surroundings. The promo will also have videos clippings of Dr Rajanna, his predecessor M Chandrasekhar, various writers and theatrepersons, expressing their opinion on the utility of the literary meet.

Documentary films

The KSP will screen documentary films from 7 pm to 9 pm on legendary writers in Kannada and those who have won the Jnanpith awards for Kannada at the Scouts and Guides Grounds, the venue for serving food to guests and delegates, during the three days of the literary meet.
