MUMBAI: In a plot straight out of a Hollywood flick, a gang of robbers dug a tunnel to loot the lockers of Bank of Baroda's branch at Juinagar in Navi Mumbai.

The incident came to light on Monday morning when the bank staff returned to work after the weekend.

Initial investigations have revealed that the robbers may have sneaked into the bank either on Saturday or Sunday.

"The thieves rented out the adjoining shop in May. The culprits have dug a 25-feet-long tunnel to the locker room," Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner Hemant Nagrale said.

"The robbers have broken 30 of the 225 lockers. The value of the lost items is yet to be ascertained," Nagrale said.

The commissioner said there are some leads and several teams have been formed to crack the case.

The suspects are believed to have conducted a thorough recce of the bank building and its surroundings.
