Police secure transit remand of Assam militants

"They will be reaching Guwahati today," Bangalore Joint Commissioner of Police Alok Kumar said.

A special police team from Guwahati on Wednesday night busted the hideout of the group here and arrested Jewel Garlossa and Partha Warisa, who was the third in DHD (J) hierarchy, and Samir Ahmed, a businessman.

According to police, 36-year-old Garlossa is involved in several cases of murder, extortion, kidnap, attempt to murder and criminal conspiracy.

Garlossa, who was in Nepal, had reportedly come to India in a bid to procure a new passport.

DHD has been demanding a separate state of Dimaraji comprising Dimasa tribal dominated areas in NC Hills, Karbi Anglong, Cachar, parts of Nagaon district in Assam, besides Dimapur and Dhansiripar in Nagaland.
