The court heard the argument put up by Shoaib’s counsel that in view of the withdrawal of cases against him by his first wife Ayesha Siddiqui and the amicable divorce of the couple, the passport should be released.
He also argued that Shoaib needed to return to his home to Sialkot in Pakistan to organise the wedding reception. Shoaib approached the High Court as the police had indicated that it might take more than a week for the local court to return it.
He argued that considering his settlement with Ayesha, the police had no reason to detain his passport.
Justice C V Nagarjuna Reddy heard the arguments of counsel for Shoaib Malik and adjourned the matter to Monday for judgment.
