An extensive use of Personal Digital Assistance(PDA) and Automation system has facilitated the city police to collect penalty totalling to Rs 2.98 crore from traffic violators. The PDA system helps to register the violation as well as gives the violators an option to swipe debit and credit cards for the penalty payment.
This system was brought in use by the city traffic police from April this year.
The police had collected 1.60 crores in 2016 and Rs 1.11 crore in 2015 respectively. This year, the fine collected by PDA alone is 1.80 crore and through automation, they have collected Rs 1.48 crore.
"After implementation of PDA in all 44 police station limits the fine collection has increased. People are also swiping their cards to pay the fine through PDA," said R Hithendra, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic).
