Amid growing threats against Sanjay Leela Bhansali ahead of the release of Padmavati, the Maharashtra government has provided security to the veteran filmmaker.

The Indian Film and Television Directors' Association (IFTDA) has thanked Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis  for providing security to Bhansali, who resides and works from Mumbai.

"We have no words to express our gratitude for providing police protection to our esteemed member," filmmaker Ashoke Pandit said.

On behalf of the film industry, Pandit said that he has requested the government to "help the victim" release his film in time.
