Labour Minister Santosh Lad on Wednesday informed the Council that the government had filed 332 cases against companies that did not provide creches for children of women employees in the last three years.

Replying to a question by M Narayanswamy (Congress), Lad said all necessary measures had been taken to improve the working conditions for women in industries.

He said the department had so far not received any complaint of atrocity or sexual harassment from women employees by their employers.

Earlier, Narayanswamy charged that safety measures were not taken for women working in garment factories. They were not even provided medical facilities at their workplaces. Transportation was not given to women and they were also subjected to harassment and atrocities if they thwarted sexual advances by their superiors, he said.
