District Mahila Congress president Vanamala Devaraj said that state Mahila Congress president Lakshmi Hebbalkar will stay at Kalkere Gollarahatti in Kadur taluk on November 18.
Briefing media persons here on Wednesday, she said as the part of the birth centenary of former prime minister Indira Gandhi, a programme called 'Indira Namana' will be held on November 19. About 100 lamps will be lit on the occasion, she added.
Lakshmi Hebbalkar will create awareness on superstitious beliefs during her village stay programme. Women are still being ostracised during their menstrual cycle. They are still made to stay outside their huts for 11 days. Even the puerperal women are asked to stay out of the house for three days soon after the delivery, she said.
Lakshmi will have food prepared by the Golla community members.
