Docs' protest claims second life in Dharwad

A youth who failed to get timely treatment following the termination of medical services at the private hospital, breathed his last in Dharwad on Thursday. The deceased has been identified as Karthik Rokade (25), a resident of Hosayellapur in Dharwad city.

It is said that Karthik developed chest pain at around 5:30 am and his family members rushed him to German Hospital for treatment. However, the hospital gates were closed and the guard told them to take to other hospital as the doctors here had terminated medical services in support of the ongoing protest.

Following this, the family members rushed him to Ramangouda Hospital for treatment, but here too the patient was denied treatment as none of the doctors were available to treat him.

With no other option left, the family members rushed him to Civil Hospital, but Karthik breathed his last before reaching the hospital. Doctors at civil hospital told that Karthik died of heart-attack.

This is the second incident in a span of 24 hours after a 12-year-old girl Vaishanavi Jadav, who was suffering from dengue, died after she failed to get timely treatment.
