The closure of Aruna Maternity Home and Clinical Laboratory, Gayatrinagar, came after the district advisory committee of Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PC&PNDT) raided the place after a tip off.
Although the police have booked a case against the doctor, DHO Dr Thimappa said government’s legal consultants, who visited the place on Friday, have 10 days to carry out the legal procedure as prescribed by the PC &PNDT Act, 1994.
S G Susheelamma, member of the State PC & PNDT district advisory committee, said the team had conducted similar inspection at Columbia Asia Hospital, Yeshwantpur and M S Ramaiah Hospital before visiting the maternity home. She said that initially when they reached Aruna Maternity Home they could not get anything but later the doctor confessed to having conducted sex determination tests in her clinic.
