The Karnataka Ophthalmic Society (KOS) will approach the Karnataka Medical Council against institutes that claim to offer courses on blindfold reading and thus cheating parents.
Speaking to media persons here on Wednesday, KOS president Sai Giridhar Kamath said that the association will extend its support to the Federation of Indian Rationalists' Association in its fight against courses on blindfold reading and midbrain activation of children.
"Several institutes across the state offer courses like midbrain activation, whole brain development, brain balancing and third eye activation. It is clear that these are not at all foolproof and are just magic tricks," said Kamath.
Senior ophthalmologist Dr C R Kamath, psychiatrist P V Bhandary and magician Junior Shankar (Thejasvi) also said that the claims of the institutes offering blindfold reading and midbrain activation are not true.
Junior Shankar also demonstrated how institutes cheat children and parents through magic tricks.
Federation of Indian Rationalists' Association president Narendra Nayak said there are more than 120 such institutes across the state who cheat the public.
