No charges against Majid: cops

The Jammu & Kashmir Police on Friday assured the family of Majid Khan that no charges will be pressed against their son.

Addressing a press conference, IGP (Kashmir) Muneer Khan said, "Majid is the only son of his parents. He displayed boldness and strength in his decision. On his return, the security forces have reassured him and his family that no charges will be pressed against him."

Asked whether the Lashkar-e-Toiba acknowledged that Majid was part of their outfit, the IGP said, "You seriously expected Lashkar to say he was in their group? What are you saying? They kill people and then they don't own up, how will they acknowledge this?"

General-officer-Commanding, Victor Force, Maj Gen B S Raju said, "Majid has neither surrendered nor was he apprehended by the security forces. It was his (Majid's) decision to join the terror group and he has returned on his own."

Victor Force in Awantipora town oversees all anti-militancy operations of the army in south Kashmir.
