Mysuru bandh evokes poor response

A day-long bandh called by the Dalit organisations, protesting the insulting remarks by BJP spokesperson Go Madhusudhan against the Constitution, here on Wednesday evoked a lukewarm response.

Except the closure of a few shops and commercial establishments on Devaraj Urs Road and Shivaram Pete, the normal life in the city was not affected.

A group of protesters barged into mofussil bus stand and tried in vain to block the movement of buses. The police foiled the agitators bid to the forced shut down of shops.

The Mysuru police have heightened the security across the city.

The agitating Dalit bodies took out a procession in the city and demanded a stern action against the BJP leader.

The protesters alleged that, during a panel discussion on a Kannada news channel, Madhusudhan insulted the Constitution by stating it was not holy and that he would not accept it.
