'Management education crucial for development plans to succeed'

Management education is vitally important for development plans to succeed in society, Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy said on Sunday.

"Without effective knowledge-teaching mechanism in management, it is
difficult to realise the
desired result," Reddy said in his address to the first global conference on 'Making Management Studies Matter – MMSM 2017.'

The syllabus should be framed to meet industry requirements, the minister added.

The conference was organised jointly by Canara Bank School of Management Studies-CBSM (Bangalore University) and Regional College of Management, Central College campus.

Bangalore Central University Vice-chancellor Prof S Japhet stressed the importance of promoting inter-disciplinary problem-solving skills in future managers.

Prof Wolfgang C Amann of HEC Paris School of Management spoke on the need for a new approach to management research.

He wanted management education to strike a fine balance between rigour' and 'relevance'.

A book titled 'Making Management Studies Matter – Phronesis 2.0 for business schools and companies' was released at the conference, in which delegates from ten countries have participated.

The CBSMS PhD researchers announced the formation of research scholar association of the department to improve research quality.
