Lorraine M Martin, Deputy Executive Vice President of Lockheed Martin's Rotary and Mission Systems (RMS) business area  on Tuesday announced that Lockheed Martin will be manufacturing components of their C-130 military transport aircraft here in Hyderabad

She added that the prototypes for the same will be ready by next year. "The engineering drawings are ready and will be sent to the USA for verification so that we can start production in Hyderabad," she said  on the sidelines of the Global Entrepreneur Summit (GES) here on Tuesday.

Lorraine, who will be taking part in panel discussions, said that Lockheed Martin is looking for innovations such as automation, artificial intelligence and weapon systems at the GES summit.

Lorraine, a former US airforce pilot, also stressed on the role that women play in any walk of life.

"There is no job a woman can't do. I have to say that I spent time with women working and building very complex machinery at Lockheed Martin at C-130 and helicopter production line, they are working side by side with men," said Lorraine.

She also said there is a need to allow manufacturing units to work on any shift at par with that of IT sector.

"Women according to factory law should not work night shifts. IT sector doesn't have that restriction. Women must be allowed to work in high tech production environment too,  " she stressed.

Lockheed Martin has around 97,000  employees worldwide and 24% of them are women.
