Lawyers protest PSI's 'assault' on colleague's son

Protesting the alleged assault on lawyer R Bhaskar's son Narahari by Nandi Girigrama police station's PSI Om Prakash, lawyers of Chikkaballapur boycotted court proceedings on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, district lawyers' association president Thamme Gowda alleged that on November 22, when Narahari was riding his bike at Devishettihalli, the PSI had stopped, used foul language against him and assaulted him. The police officer had confiscated the vehicle also he added.

Gowda observed that the PSI could have taken legal action against Narahari if the latter had broken traffic rules. Without doing that he had and ignoring the fact that he is still a student, the PSI had threatened him saying that he would not let him write his exams. The policeman had confiscated Narahari's mobile, booked six cases against him and submitted that chargesheet in court, he added.

Gowda said that Narahari is a BCom student who has to write his exam on Thursday. "In such a situation, the PSI had troubled him. We will not call off the strike till the police officers apologize," he added.

"We have complained to the SP and DySP on this matter. No action has been taken. So we have decided to meet the judge and file a private complaint," Gowda informed.

Despite several attempts to contact PSI Om Prakash for his statement, he was not available.
