Rama-Lakshmana Jodukare Kambala in M'luru on Dec 3

The Mangaluru Kambala Samithi, in a bid to introduce Kambala to Mangalureans, will organise Rama-Lakshmana Jodukare Kambala at Gold Finch City in Bangrakuloor, Mangaluru, on December 3.

Briefing reporters here on Wednesday, Mangaluru Kambala Samithi president Capt Brijesh Chowta said that Kambala will be inaugurated by Nitte University Chancellor N Vinay Hegde while Mayor Kavitha Sanil will preside over the programme.

In the evening stage programme, Karnataka Kreeda Rathna awardees Kolachooru Kondottu Sukumar Shetty, Jayakara Madiwala, Baradibeedi Jeevandhar Ballal will be felicitated. The competitions will be held in six categories. They are Kanehalage, Hagga, Negilu in the senior category, Adda Halage, Negilu in the junior category. The winners in Kanehalage, Hagga, Negilu will get two pavan gold each.

Mangaluru Kambala Samithi honorary advisor Vijay Kumar Kanginamane said that Kambala track has been prepared by a team of 40 youths. About 70 loads of crusher dust, sand and stones have been used for laying the track.

"All the basic facilities including drinking water, shade will be provided for the participating buffaloes. There is no scope for violence in Kambala. We will adhere to all the guidelines of the government," he said. About 100 to 125 pairs of buffaloes are expected to take part.
