Last Updated 05 December 2017, 15:28 IST

In reply to criticism against him by Union Minister of State for Skills Development & Entrepreneurship Anantkumar Hegde and State BJP President B S Yeddyurappa, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said, "Anantkumar Hegde is unfit to be a Union minister. Let Mr Yeddyurappa first come out of cases he is facing."

During his stopover at Hubballi Airport on his way to Haveri district, Mr Siddaramaiah told media persons on Tuesday that appreciation about Rahul Gandhi becoming the AICC president cannot be expected from other parties, and the strength of Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be known in next elections.

People want Rahul Gandhi to lead Congress Party, and his elevation to the post of AICC president would have a big impact on the politics in the country. In the history of 130 years of the Congress Party, those who were not the members of Nehru family had also become its presidents, he said.

"We have not yet thought about Janashirvada Yatra, and therefore, there is no question of spending government money to prepare a bus for that. As the chief minister, I am visiting various constituencies to lay foundation stone for development works or to inaugurate the completed works," he said.

When asked about the charges against Dharwad District In-charge Minister Vinaya Kulkarni with regard to ZP member Yogishgouda Goudar murder case, he reiterated that the police would take action as per the law and they have freedom.
