Lokayukta flays 'unnecessary' plaints against officials

The administrative set up is run by officials and thus it is not correct to merely file cases against them without a reason, Lokayukta Justice P Vishwanath Shetty said.

He was speaking at Lokayukta adalat here on Monday. Opposing the transfer of PDO, Haneef Pajepalla had filed a complaint against ZP CEO and said that, "As the person against whom the complaint is registered is sitting in the stage I am withdrawing my complaint." Enraged over it, Lokayukta took him to task and said that the transfer of officials does not come under the purview of Lokayukta Act 81 (A).

Dinesh K of Ishwaramangala said that he did not get the financial assistance under Basava Vasathi Yojane even after construction of the house. He also alleged that officials have taken a bribe from him. Lokayukta directed Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation to release Rs 1.2 lakh under the scheme and ordered for a separate probe.

Puttur TMC president Jayanthi Balnadu said that TMC chief officer Roopa Shetty is not discharging her duties effectively. To which, the Lokayukta said that it is the duty of the elected representatives to ensure that officials discharge their duties effectively. He also expressed displeasure that the president sent her lawyer for the hearing and got the case disposed of.
