Two men were arrested for eve-teasing women police personnel who were on a Hoysala patrol in Vyalikaval on Monday night.

The arrested are Rohit (24), a recovery agent with a private finance company and Vaibhav (26), a private firm employee.

The suspects had come out of a live band in a bar and restaurant and reportedly 'excited' when they ran into the women police sitting in the patrol vehicle. Both the suspects are residents of HMT Layout in Mathikere.

Woman police constable Geeta and home guard Mahalakshmi, attached to Vyalikaval police station, were sitting in their patrol vehicle at Vinayaka Circle. The circle has many bars and restaurants and the patrol vehicle was stationed there for the safety of women.

Around 1 am, Rohit and Vaibhav stepped out of Srinivasa bar and restaurant and were walking towards the place where they had parked their bike. On their way, they spotted the pink Hoysala where two policewomen were sitting inside.

The men catcalled them saying 'hi darling'. The women staff got down from their patrol vehicle and alerted their driver and two other policemen who were outside. Driver Manjanna along with assistant sub-inspector Premchandraiah and constable Chandrappa questioned the duo.

The suspects started abusing the police in their drunken stupor.

The police bundled the duo in the jeep and took them to the station. Vyalikaval police registered a case and slapped the duo under IPC Sections 353 - assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty, 354-A - eve-teasing, intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace and 506 - criminal intimidation.

The two were produced before a magistrate and remanded to judicial custody.
