Call to protect waterbodies

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, founder of Art of Living (AoL), on Tuesday called upon the people to protect waterbodies.

Speaking at the inauguration of a two-day conference on 'River Rejuvenation' organised by the AoL and International Association for Human Values he said protecting waterbodies is not just the task of the government departments and civil societies.

Over 350 social scientists, hydrologists, water resource engineers, policymakers, farmer groups, geologists, remote sensing data application scientists, multidisciplinary experts, researchers, enthusiasts and activists from different parts of the country are participating in the conference.

Kiran Kumar, Isro Chairman said that to achieve sustainable development scientific inventions should also be effectively used.

He cited the example of project Sujala and said that the Isro was always keen to continue its support to the
government in restoring waterbodies.
