Pawan Kalyan opposes privatisation of DCI, writes to PM

Actor and president of Janasena Party, Pawan Kalyan, opposed the move to privatise profit-making public sector undertaking the Dredging Corporation of India (DCI), headquartered at Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.

Pawan wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, seeking him to withdraw the proposed move.

Pawan, who expressed solidarity with the employees of DCI who are staging a protest, arrived in Visakhapatnam to personally convey his condolences to the bereaved family of an employee who committed suicide fearing retrenchment.

He met the family of N Venkatesh, who committed suicide in Vizianagaram on Monday evening, and assured them of full support in the ongoing agitation.

"This will be the first ever favour I am going to seek from the PM after he won the elections in 2014," Pawan said.
