Miscreant enters hostel, decamps with girl's ATM card

A miscreant forcibly entered a ladies hostel room and threatened a girl before decamping with cash and her ATM card at Kotekar in the wee hours of Tuesday.

The victim was sleeping in her room when she heard someone knock at the door around 4 am. Thinking that hostel staff would have knocked, she opened the door. The miscreant forcibly entered the room and assaulted her with an iron rod. He also demanded Rs 5 lakh from her. When she said that she does not have such a huge amount of cash, he forcibly took her purse containing Rs 3,000 cash. Before fleeing the spot, he forcibly collected her ATM PIN as well. A case has been registered in Ullal Police Station.

Complaint filed

A complaint has been submitted against Backward Classes Commission former Chairman C S Dwarakanath accusing him of "speaking ill against Lord Rama".

In his complaint submitted by Ganesh Shetty of Balthila village in Bantwal, he said that at a programme held in the Town Hall on Tuesday, Dwarakanath allegedly spoke ill against Hindu Gods and hurt the sentiments of Hindus. For issuing a controversial statement against Lord Rama, legal action should be initiated against him, stated the complaint.
