For the first time, the Hubballi Airport, which is upgraded now, is set to handle comparatively bigger passenger aircraft, when the Air India will begin its tri-weekly Bengaluru-Hubballi-Mumbai air service through Airbus A319 aircraft.

At present, a 72-seater aircraft (ATR 72-600) is operating from Hubballi Airport. The new flight which will start operating from here from December 12 will have 124 seats. "This is the first time that this bigger aircraft is operating in the entire North Karnataka region," MP Pralhad Joshi said.

A319 aircraft of the Air India will depart Bengaluru at 12:00 noon, land in Hubballi at 12:50 pm, depart at 1:25 pm and reach Mumbai at 2:30 pm. In the return direction, it will leave Mumbai at 3:25 pm, land in Hubballi at 4:35 pm, depart at 6:10 pm, and reach Bengaluru at 7:00 pm.

This service is available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. The inaugural fare for Hubballi-Mumbai journey is Rs 3,840, MP Pralhad Joshi said.

The inaugural flight on December 12, will land at the Hubballi Airport at 11:30 am itself, and will take off for Mumbai at 1:30 pm.

As a Bengaluru-Hubballi-Bengaluru flight is already operating in afternoon and evening hours, we are trying to change the timing of that flight to morning hours, he said, adding that the Union Government is trying to regulate the air fares as they get increased with less availability of seats.
