Infra works to be completed by Jan 15

New Delhi: Minister for Sericulture and Animal Husbandry A Manju said on Thursday that all infrastructure development works in connection with Mahamastakabhisheka at Shravanabelagola would be completed by January 15.

The construction of temporary townships is on at a full swing and other works such as building roads, drinking water and sanitation facilities were at final stages, he said.

The government is constructing 12 temporary townships to accommodate over 26,000 people, and each township will be designated to a particular group. Thyagi Nagar, a township for Jain saints, is expected to be ready by December 15, he told reporters. He said the construction of scaffolding for the Gomateshwara statue atop Vindhyagiri would be completed as per the schedule.

More than 35 lakh people are expected to attend the 15-day event commencing February 7, the minister added.
