A poacher was nabbed by forest officials at Castle Rock, Kali Tiger Reserve recently with the carcass of an Indian Brown Civet.
Forest sleuths arrested Suresh Narayan Naik in Palda beat, while his accomplice Prakash Soman Naik managed to escape.
The poacher was arrested by forest guard Ramesh Dambal and forest watcher Raghavendra Gowda.
The poachers tried to shoot the forest staffers, but alert officials pulled the rifles from the hunters and seized other materials. In the mele, Prakash escaped.
Indian Brown Civet is listed under schedule-2 of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
