Constitution superior to religions and doctrines: G Rajashekhar

Last Updated 09 December 2017, 17:05 IST

Veteran thinker G Rajashekhar said that Constitution is above all including the religions.

He was speaking at a protest rally organised by the Dalit Sangharsha Samiti (DSS), Udupi district, challenging Pejawar seer Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swami and G Madhusudhan, who oppose the Constitution, to quit the country.

The leader said, "The Constitution which was drafted by B R Ambedkar, upholds humanity and proposes equality in all pedestals of the Constitutional statutes. The message is unbiased and all are required to be treated equally irrespective of caste, creed, religion, race, colour and class. The people who oppose the Constitution are not eligible to stay in the country. The Constitution is the lamp post for the downtrodden and the poor. It is sacred even above religions and religious doctrines."

Ram Mandir

Activist Prof Phaniraj ridiculed the Pejawar seer for giving a deadline to take up the construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

He added that the seer is taking the drastic step even before the Supreme Court has announced the verdict. "The seer should allow Dalits enter the Mutt and should also dine with them instead of visiting Dalit colonies. This would be the actual task towards eliminating the untouchability. The seer is unnecessarily giving statements on making efforts to eliminate untouchability," he censured.

DSS leader Shekhar Hejmadi said that the seer should visit Brahmin colonies to preach humanity. The seer should understand and experience the difficulties of poor, destitute and Dalits. The seer is working to secure the saffron power in the country and state.

Hejmadi added that the illegal asset collected in the mutt can be used to feed the poor and warned that the DSS would lay siege the Pejawar Mutt if the seer continues his fake agenda.
