JOIN USA team of BBMP officials and the local MLA inspected the ongoing work on Church Street on Thursday.
Shantinagar MLA N A Haris said continuous rain has delayed the repair work by about two and a half months. However, he was hopeful of completing some of the work before New Year's eve.
According to K T Nagaraj, chief engineer, central project, BBMP, almost 75% of the work is completed.
Store owners upset
Shop owners complained to the MLA that they have been losing out on business ever since the work had started. They appealed to Haris to expedite the work and complete it without extending the deadline any further.
"We are losing our business as the road development has not been completed. It is difficult for people to walk on these roads. The work started in February. It was supposed to be completed within six months, but it is 10 months now," said Vikram, owner of a restaurant on Church Street. The MLA assured them that the work would be completed soon.
The government has already missed three deadlines to complete the maintenance work on Church Street.
