Cong is sponsoring terrorism: Rathnakar Hegde

Last Updated 15 December 2017, 17:05 IST

Udupi District BJP president Mattar Ratnakar Hegde alleged that the Congress government is indulging in sponsoring terrorism and is "supporting Jihadis" in all possible ways.

Speaking at a rally organised to condemn the killing of Paresh Mesta in Honnavar, the BJP district unit president said that the Congress government had withdrawn the cases that were registered against the KFD and PFI members when it came to power. "The action taken by the Congress government supported and provoked anti-social elements who are disturbing the peace in society," he said. After Congress government came to power, 20 Hindu activists were killed mercilessly. The government has failed to take any action, he alleged.

He alleged that police are also becoming inactive. He said that despite Hindu activists complaining about activities being undertaken by anti-social elements, the police have ignored the complaints. The government should be blamed for all the communal clashes and also the killing of Mesta. To avoid the repercussions, the government is terming the death to be a natural death when it is actually a brutal murder. He alleged that the government, with its irresponsible approach and favouritism towards Muslim fundamentalists, is fueling terrorism in these areas. This would prove costly in the days to come, he cautioned.
