Stolen goods worth Rs 47.59 cr recovered

Nine murders reported in Kolar district since January; six accused remanded into custody

Speaking at a function to return the recovered articles to lawful owners here on Monday, Superintendent of Police Dr K Thyagarajan said the value of the goods stolen from January to March this year was Rs 50.30 lakh of which, articles worth Rs 47.59 lakh had been recovered. The owners of the stolen vehicles and goods are yet to be traced in some cases.
Police officers disclosed that eight murder cases have been reported in the district in the last three months.

Culprits have been arrested and remanded into judicial custody in six cases. Four murder cases have been reported in rural circle limits alone.

Inspector T R Jayashankar said four murders have been reported in Mulbagal circle limits. A sum of Rs 35 lakh recovered from abductors in a case is still in the possession of police and the money would be returned to the owners after the court orders to do so.

Owners absent

Stolen and recovered vehicles were on display at the Police parade grounds. Gold ornaments were returned to legitimate owners on the occasion. However, majority of the owners of the stolen vehicles had not turned up.

Additional Superintendent of Police S R Phaneendra Singh and DySP Sangappa Chalavadi were present.
