Smartphone snatched from woman in broad daylight

Two bike-borne men snatched away the smartphone of a woman right even as the policemen in Pink Hoysala watched them helplessly near Nagarabhavi Circle. The incident happened on the evening of December 12.

Pooja Arun, an accountant with a IT firm got down from her company cab near Nagarabhavi Circle and was walking towards her home in NGEF Layout, speaking to her mother on her phone. "In a flash of a second two men riding a bike snatched my phone and vanished," she told DH. All this, even as a Pink Hoysala patrolling vehicle was stationed less than a few hundred metres away.

Pooja raised an alarm to draw the attention of the passersby. She said that the bike had no registration number. A passersby gave a chase but to no avail as the duo just disappeared on their bike.

The policemen in patrol vehicle attached to the Chandra Layout, which was stationed very close to the spot, could not do anything as its driver was not in the vehicle. He could not either stepped out for a coffee or gone to attend call of nature, the police party told Pooja. Two others in the police vehicle including a woman personnel did not know driving.

Chandra Layout police have registered a case of robbery and have gathered CCTV footage of the incident. They too said the bike had no registration number.
