Himachal's fate to be decided tomorrow

Last Updated 17 December 2017, 13:50 IST

The question of which party will rule Himachal Pradesh for the next five years will be  answered  on Monday, with the election results set to be announced by evening.

Most of the exit polls have predicted a defeat for the incumbent Congress.

However, outgoing Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh has discounted all the exit polls terming them unscientific. He has even sought a ban on exit polls.

Elections to the state Assembly, which consists of 68 seats, were held on November 9 this year.

The BJP had projected former chief minister  Prem Kumar Dhumal as its chief ministerial candidate.

The BJP led a strong campaign while the Congress campaign was arguably lacklustre.

Top leaders of the saffron party, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and national president Amit shah, participated in many election rallies in the run-up to the polls.

Rahul Gandhi's election rallies were conducted only a day before the campaign ended.

The outgoing assembly has 36 MLAs of the Congress and 26 of the BJP.
