Mayor urges residents to download app to retain 'Clean City' tag

Mayor M J Ravikumar on Monday, urged the residents of the city to download the Swachhata application to help in retaining the 'Clean City' tag.

In a press conference here the mayor said the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has made all preparations for the competition and the MCC needs the people's support to retain 'Clean City' tag.

"This time, 5,000 cities are competing. As Mysuru city slipped to the fifth place from the first, the authorities have been working hard to retain the tag. The city is open defecation-free and solid waste management is going well. We are prepared with all the necessary documents to participate in the competition," he informed.

"This time, 1,400 marks has been earmarked for residents' participation and thus, the people should use the Swachhata app. The residents should download the application to lodge complaints. According to the guidelines, 18,000 people have to use the application. But only 4,000 have downloaded the app until now," he said.

Cash prize for app users

MCC Commissioner G Jagadeesha said, the civic body has decided to give a cash prize of Rs 10,000 to five people, who use the application. In order to check cleanliness, two welfare associations have been established in each ward in the city, he informed.

Deputy Mayor Rathna Lakshman was present.
