Parents of a 22-year-old woman have lodged a complaint with the Jayanagar police here, accusing Javed Khan, a native of Mysuru, of abducting their daughter as she was not keen on continuing her marriage with him.

The police have registered a missing case. But, some Hindu outfits have claimed that it is a case of Love Jihad.

According to police, the parents Aravinda Hegade and Asha, natives of Durgigudi, Shivamogga, lodged a complaint with the Jayanagar police on December 17, saying their son-in-law Khan had abducted their daughter Anusha Hegde.

They said Khan married Anusha last year without informing her that he was married twice already. Anusha fell in love with Khan, while she was studying engineering in Mysuru. She married him against their wishes. The woman realised about his earlier two marriages only later. They claimed that Anusha herself had told them she was being ill-treated by Khan. Unable to bear the torture, she returned to Shivamogga on December 5. Khan abducted their daughter on December 17, they said.

The police, who spoke to the girl over phone, said Anusha had denied that she was abducted. She told them that she voluntarily went to Mysuru with Khan.

The parents, who are natives of Shivamogga, had shifted to Mysuru a decade ago.
