Cong candidate wins Kadur TMC ward by-election

Kumar, a candidate from Congress party, has won the by-elections for the 14th ward of Kadur Town Municipal Council.

The by-election was held on Sunday and the counting was on Wednesday. Kumar secured 254 votes while his contender R Ananthamurthy from BJP got 201 votes. Independent candidates N Raju and B S Prabhakar earned two and 11 votes respectively. One voter opted for NOTA. A total of 469 votes were cast in the by-election.

Congress leader K S Anand congratulated Kumar and expressed his joy on Congress retaining the seat. ZP member Sharat Krishnamurthy said that the people's mandate has been the result of the development works by the party.

Kumar said that he will strive towards the development of the ward.

TMC members M Somashekhar, N Bashir Sab, K M Mohan Kumar, K S Manjunath, leaders K H Ranganath, Ajay Wadiyar and Nalluri Suresh greeted the winner.

At Gadihalli

The results of the Taluk Panchayat by-election for Gadihalli constituency was out on Wednesday. K Prema Krishnamurthy from Congress, beat her close competitor G E Pratap from BJP with a margin of 445 votes.

Out of the 5,902 votes cast during the election, Prema earned 2,278 votes and G E Pratap secured 1,833 votes. G H Malleshappa got 1,682 votes while 109 where NOTA, election officer Tahsildar Dharmoji Rao said.
