Parivartana Rally today to bring BSY's announcement on Mahadayi

Last Updated 20 December 2017, 17:40 IST

On the eve of the BJP's Parivartana Yatra convention to be held in Hubballi on Thursday (December 21), which will mark the launch of the party's campaigning in the district for forthcoming Assembly elections, all major leaders of the party including B S Yeddyurappa, Jagadish Shettar and Pralhad Joshi were in New Delhi on Wednesday, holding a meeting with BJP National President Amit Shah regarding a solution to be found for the inter-State dispute over Mahadayi water sharing.

Probably, it shows how important and urgent it is for the BJP to show some progress in convincing Goa to agree for diverting water from Mahadayi basin to Malaprabha river for drinking purpose, before the party goes for formal campaigning in this region.

The prime minister's intervention to come to an out-of-tribunal settlement and efforts to convince Goa chief minister have been the most prominent demands of Mahadayi agitation going on in the region, and the BJP leaders had to face protests and blame in this regard in the last couple of years.

Yeddyurappa's assurance

Last month, State BJP President B S Yeddyurappa had assured the Mahadayi agitators that a solution would be found by December 15, and he would come to this region only with a sweet news.

Now, Mr Yeddyurappa is attending the Parivartana Rally in Hubballi on Thursday (December 21), and the question is what he would say about Mahadayi issue.

Since the date of Parivartana Rally was fixed, the BJP leaders were saying that efforts in Mahadayi issue are on, and a good news is expected in a few days. Now, the BJP leaders' meeting in New Delhi on Wednesday, which was also attended by Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, has evoked curiosity on what announcement Parivartana Rally in Hubballi would bring.

In New Delhi itself, Mr Yeddyurappa noted that the meeting was satisfactory and he would make an announcement in Hubballi itself.

Meanwhile, the Congress leaders are criticising that the BJP did not respond to Mahadayi demand since all these years, and is now talking about this issue, as elections are nearing.

Yogi main attraction

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will be the main attraction at the BJP's Parivartana Rally event to be held at the Nehru Stadium here on Thursday at 3:30 pm.

He will visit Moorusaviramutt before attending the convention, and would leave for Lucknow by a special flight after the rally. There is also a possibility that he may also visit Siddharoodamutt after the convention.

In 2015, when Yogi Adityanath was Goarkhpur MP, he had addressed Virat Hindu Samavesh organised by the Vishwa Hindu Parishat (VHP) at the same venue.

Unions ministers Ananth Kumar, D V Sadananda Gowda, Ramesh Jigjinagi, Anantkumar Hegde and other BJP leaders will also attend the convention.

Stage set

Banners and buntings have already been displayed on the main thoroughfares in the City, and BJP leaders are expecting one lakh people for the event.

On the eve of the convention, the BJP workers took out a bike rally on Wednesday, which was flagged off by former minister C T Ravi.

Police have also made elaborate arrangements for the bundobast for the event which is being attended by Yogi Adityanath who has a Z Plus security cover.

Along with commandos and Uttar Pradesh police team led by a DIG for his security, around 1,000 local police are also deployed for the security at the event venue.
