Prakash Rai to inaugurate Karavali Utsav on Dec 22

Multilingual actor Prakash Rai will inaugurate Karavali Utsav 2017-18 at Karavali Utsav grounds in Mangaluru on December 22 at 6 pm. Beach utsav, Yuva utsav and Cartoon fest will be the highlights of the Karavali Utsav.

Briefing reporters here on Wednesday, District-In-charge Minister B Ramanath Rai said that Karavali Utsav will be held at three venues namely Karavali Utsav grounds, Kadri Park and Panambur beach.

Additional DC Kumar said that as part of the Karavali Utsav, a cultural procession will be held from Nehru Maidan to Karavali Utsav grounds at 3.30 pm. The procession will be inaugurated by Minister for Food and Civil Supplies U T Khader.

The exhibition at the Karavali Utsav grounds will be inaugurated by District -In-charge Minister B Ramanath Rai. As part of Yuva Utsava, students from various schools and colleges will present a variety of cultural programmes at Kadri Park on December 28 and 29.

Further, he said that sports competitions have been organised as part of Karavali Utsav. Mangaluru taluk level high school and PU students Kabaddi and throw ball (for men and women) will be held at Karavali Utsav grounds on December 23. On December 27, netball tournament will be held for high school and degree college students on December 27.

Beach festival

The beach festival will be held at Panambur beach from December 29 to 31. Beach volleyball, beach throwball, food festival and a variety of cultural programmes will be part of the beach festival. Stand-up pedalling, surfing will be an added attraction. A new year celebration with a band at midnight will be another attraction.

The valedictory of Karavali Utsav will be held on December 31 at 5.30 pm. Karavali Gaurava Prashasti will be conferred on the occasion. The state government has released Rs 30 lakh for Karavali Utsav and stalls have been auctioned for Rs 27 lakh. An action plan for the Utsav has been prepared for Rs 60 lakh, Kumar said.

Cultural programmes

The cultural programmes as part of Karavali Utsav will be held from December 22 to 31 at Karavali Utsav grounds and Kadri Park.

The programmes at Kadri Park are as follows: Carnatic music by Shankari Murthi Balila and team (December 22, 6 pm and magic show by Kudroli Ganesh 7.15 pm); Sitar concert by Ustad Parvez (Dec 23, 6 pm), 'Shivam' a dance variety by Arekar and team (7.45 pm); Udayaraga Dasa keerthane by Yashaswini and team (Dece 24, 6 am), Yoga and meditation by Goplakrishna Delampady (7.30 am), violin jugalbandi by Tejas Manjunath and Pranav Manjunath (6 pm), 'Raga ondu bhava halavu' by Keerthana Rao and team (7.15 pm); devotional songs by Vidyabhushan (Dec 25, 6 pm) and dance ballet by Natyalaya (7.45 pm); Hindustani concert and Dasavani by Dhananjay Hegde and team (Dec 26, 6 pm) and Sangeetha Katti (7.15 pm); flute by Prapancham N Balachandran (Dec 27, 6 pm) and Carnatic concert (Naiveli Santhanagopalan (7.30 pm); Dasavani by Utham Kumar (Dec 30 6 pm) and Voice of Music, a musical concert (7 pm); Udayaraga by Balachandra Nakod and team (Dec 31, 6 am), Santoor Jugalbandi by Bhajan Sapori, Abhaya Rustum and team (6 pm) and Gotipua dance by Abhinna Sundar Gotipua Dance Parishat (8 pm).

The cultural programmes at Karavali Utsav grounds are as follows; Saxophone by Macchendranath and team (Dec 23, 6 pm), Mahila Yakshagana by Sathwika Teja Kala kendra (7 pm); bhavageethe and folk songs by Swarasri Sangeetha Vidyalaya (Dec 24, 6 pm), Bharatnatyam by Saurabha Sangeetha Kala Parishat (7.30 pm); Sugama sangeeth by Chandrashekar Hegde (Dec 25, 6 pm), Yakshagana Bayalata by Vinayaka Yakshagana Mandali (7.30 pm); Talamaddale by Jabbar Samo (Dec 26, 6 pm), Karavali Samskrithika Vaibhava (mediapersons 8 pm); multilingual poets meet by Kannada Balaga (Dec 27, 6 pm), Tulu play Kode Budpale (7 pm); Dance ballet by Nadanritya Kala Samsthe (Dec 28, 6 pm), Beary cultural variety by Beary Academy (7.30 pm); culutural programmes by Cardts Samvedana kids (Dec 29, 6 pm) and Konkani variety of programmes (7 pm); Bharatnatyam by Annapoorna Shetty (Dec 30, 6 pm), Tulu variety of programmes by Tulu Academy (7 pm); Sangeetha saurabha by Kasturi and team (Dec 31, 6 pm) and Kannada play 'Rudrabheema' (7 pm).
