Goonda Act against water body encroachers

  Minister for Minor Irrigation Govind Karjol, on Tuesday, said the government would soon issue a direction to officers in this regard.

The minister told reporters that there was provision to book the encroachers under the Goonda Act. But so far it had not been invoked. The CM would soon convene a meeting of officers and issue a direction.

Karjol said 3,242 hectares of 677 tanks had been encroached upon in the State. The government recovered 984 ha of 194 tanks. The survey of total area of tanks was going on.

Internal reservation

The minister said the government was committed to provide internal reservation for the benefit of those communities which did not enjoy due share of reservation.
