JD(S) workers staged a protest in the City on Saturday, demanding the prime minister's intervention to resolve Mahadayi dispute out-of-the-tribunal.

"Both BJP and Congress, that are in power at the Centre and in the State respectively, have forgotten their responsibility, and are engaged in mere political blame-game over Mahadayi issue, misguiding the people," protesters charged.

Tough people are running a continuous agitation in the region, which is hit by severe drought, governments are using Mahadayi just for their political gain. State BJP President B S Yeddyurappa has also failed to bring sweet news, as he assured, they lamented.

Waiving off all loans of farmers, rectifying errors in the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), dibursement of pending insurance amount under the PMFBY, and implementation of Dr Swaminathan Commission recommendations to ensure scientific price for crops were also among their demands.

Navalgund MLA N H Konaraddi, Corporators Rajanna Koravi, Altaf Nawaz M Kittur, and others led the protest.
