In a case of fence eating the crop,  two policemen deputed to guard VVIPs  allegedly stole the bag of a guest at a hotel on Ballari Road, North Bengaluru, on December 16.

Assistant sub-inspector  Muthurayappa and head constable Nagaraj walked out of the bag after  signing out at the end of their shift. The bag contained Rs 50,000 in cash, a camera and other valuables. The theft emerged when the guest found the bag  missing  while  leaving  for the airport and  complained to the hotel management. The hotel staff zeroed in on the policemen after reviewing the  CCTV footage.

The hotel management  raised the matter with the jurisdictional police who summoned the policemen and recovered the bag.  The duo, in their  statement to the police, said they had accidentally taken the bag. Though the policemen were let off, guests at the hotel brought the matter to the notice of senior police officers.  The matter also came to the notice of Police Commissioner T Suneel Kumar. Taking a  serious notice of it, he has ordered the jurisdictional DCP to  probe the matter and  submit a report.
