[24]7.ai to hire 3,000 in India next year

[24]7.ai,  a leader in intent-driven customer experience solutions, plans to recruit 3,000 people in India.

Talking to DH, [24]7.ai co-founder and CEO P V Kannan said the company hired similar number in 2017.  "[24]7 has a total staff strength of 16,000. Our 50% of talent pool is from India. We have significant talent, engineers and data scientists here as well," he said.

When asked about the  impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the company, he said obviously changes do affect the company. "But we are also acquiring clients and growing. We are cannibalising from  other channels. I do not think there is any impact in hiring.

He said the company recently built a massive campus in Hyderabad. "We are slowly filling it up. We just expanded in Hyderabad.  Of the 3,000 people we hired last year, about 1,000 people are in Hyderabad as well," Kannan said.

The company has research and development centres in California, Stockholm, Toronto, Sydney and Bengaluru. The company established a technology unit in 2008 called iLabs in India.

On the engagement with government organisations, he said the company is already in that space in  Latin America.

"The governments in the region are hungry and they want  to emulate the Indian success stories in services. We have in fact set up digital chat centres in Colombia, where we have 1,000 people working out of there", he said.

Since data collection made changes in 2010 onwards, the company used chatbots and automation to next level. "Today, we handle close to 2 billion conversations a year globally. AI cannot do anything without humans. The chat conversations became the fuel for the  AI models and similarly, human agents need AI to quickly get to a point in a conversation," he said.
