Testing time for top cop

Facing a full-strength group of mediapersons,  Director General and Inspector General of Police Ajai Kumar Singh was at pains in justifying the police's version of the blasts and the progress ave made till date.

"Shall I ask you when I should respond to you," was Singh's refrain when reporters flooded him with persistent questions without giving him an opportunity to respond.

When a reporter continued with uncomfortable questions directed at him, a visibly agitated Singh retorted: "There is no need for you to attack me (like this)." Asked about the different theories on the blasts doing the rounds, Singh declared: "You are provoking me, but I won't fall prey (to such tactics)."

Scheduled to start at 4:15 pm "sharp", the delay of about 35 minutes left many puzzled. But what baffled the most was why the press conference was being held when there was no any important announcement to be made on the case.
