Fire in a hilly range near Rajaseat

A forest fire in the hilly range attached to Rajaseat destroyed 15 acres of forest on Tuesday.

The fire was noticed at the watchtower at 2 pm and engulfed half of the hilly range by evening. Owing to the strong wind, the spread of fire could not be controlled.

Since it was a steep area the fire service personnel could not take the fire extinguisher to douse the fire. With the help of locals, the police tried to douse the fire using the branches of the trees. The valuable trees and bushes were burnt in the fire.

According to forest department officials, "the fire would have been the act of miscreants. A large number of tourists had visited Raja Seat during Christmas. There was an entry to the watchtower in the hilly range attached to Rajaseat as well."
