Bahubali anointment to be live telecast in 3D format

The Mahamastakabhisheka for the statue of Gommateshwara, scheduled to be held here from February 7 to 26, 2018, can be watched live across the world. The district administration has decided to telecast the event in 3D format.

New experiment

The new technology is introduced for the first time for the event, which is held once in 12 years. This is the second Mahamastakabhisheka of the century. The first one was held in 2006.

While lakhs of people throng the hill to get a glimpse of the Mahamastakabhisheka, arrangements have been made for only 6,000 people and thus, the live telecast will be helpful to the devotees.

Watch it on smartphones

People can enjoy the whole event using their smartphones. The district administration will release a Quick Response (QR) code and the people can view the celebration in a 3D format using smartphones. The event will be videographed in 360-degree angle.

Internet facility

Mahamastakabhisheka Special Officer B N Varaprasad told DH that the district administration has approached private companies to telecast the event.

"Many companies have shown interest to telecast the event live. Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) authorities have assured of providing internet facility with a speed of 100 megabytes per second (MBPS)," he said.

The companies have agreed to provide virtual reality spectacles to 20 lakh people at a cost of Rs 90 each, the officer informed.
