Notice to IAS probationer for chewing gum during 'naada geethe'

A probationary IAS officer in Tumakuru district has come under attack for continuing to munch chewing gum while standing up for 'naada geethe' -or the state anthem- at a public function.

The state government slapped a show-cause notice on the 2016-batch IAS officer Preeti Gehlot, even as the footage of her munching gum was beamed on television and went viral on social media.

The incident occurred on Thursday during Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's visit to Sira, where he inaugurated various developmental schemes and opened an Indira Canteen.
