Taking a dig at Union Minister Anantkumar Hegde and BJP leader G Madhusudhan for their barbs on Constitution, senior party leader V Srinivas Prasad called the duo fanatics and idiots.

In a press meet held here on Saturday, former minister who joined BJP last year, said, "Hegde and Madhusudhan are insulting Narendra Modi-led NDA government by making idiotic statements like changing Constitution. The party leadership should issue stern warning against the duo and take stringent action if they fail to mend their ways in future."

"Even Narendra Modi has said in public that it was because of our Constitution that a tea vendor could become the prime minister. Modi himself has said Constitution is a holy book. But it is a shame that Hegde, a five-time MP, has failed to understand the the Constitution in spirit and in letter," Prasad said.

Being an Union minister he should have had minimum knowledge of Constitution and secularism. The people have taken to streets to protest his insensitive remarks on Constitution, Prasad, a former Union minister, said.

Madhusudhan (former MLC) should be ashamed of himself for making unnecessary comments on Constitution and defending them, Prasad said.
