The district administration has banned animal sacrifice during jatramahotsava to Siddappaji, at Chikkallur, in Kollegal taluk, here, from January 2, 2018 to January 7.
Deputy Commissioner B Ramu, in a press conference, here, on Saturday, said that the sacrifice of animals in the name of God has been completely banned as per the directions of the Karnataka High Court.
The DC said, during previous year festival, a few devotees from neighbouring districts, were clueless about the ban, had brought animals for sacrifice. But, the police had seized and returned them to the devotees. This time, no devotees are allowed to bring animals. The district administration will take strict action against the violators, the DC warned.
