KSHRC gets new chief after 5 years

The Congress and the BJP members sparred in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday over the Mahadayi river water sharing issue.

Siddaramaiah announced the decision after chairing a meeting of the selection committee comprising Legislative Assembly Speaker K B Koliwad, Legislative Council Chairman D H Shankaramurthy, leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Jagadish Shettar and Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy.

After Nayak's exit, KSHRC member Meera Saxena had been appointed as the acting chairperson. She stepped down on November 20, 2017, after completing her term.
